Sure, I learned how to think theologically, but when I got into the real world where churches were shrinking, members were fighting, and finances were in the red, neither Calvin, Luther, Bultmann, nor Tillich had much to say about how to lead a church forward.

Over forty years ago, I was tossed Into the deep end of the ministry pool and had to either sink or swim when it came to leading the church to growth. Thankfully, I had enough business skills in my past, so I was able to turn what was a dire situation into explosive growth. Since then, I've been a constant student of leadership and of what it takes to guide a church into an effective, faithful, and sustainable future.
